You may have already heard of this one, as it\u2019s one of the most popular caves on the island, along with Cueva de Art\u00e0. Its fame is partly due to the writer Julio Verne, who described it in his famous novel Journey to the Center of the Earth.<\/p>\n
Located in Portocristo, Manacor, the cave extends over 1,200 meters, and as you venture deeper, you descend up to 25 meters below sea level. There is an entrance fee, and the tour takes about an hour to navigate its accessible sections. Inside, you\u2019ll find one of the world\u2019s largest subterranean lakes, which you can cross by boat or via a bridge.\n<\/p>\n

Although often overshadowed by the Drach Caves, Cueva de Art\u00e0 is another must-see. Located in Capdepera, in Cap Vermell, it spans 450 meters. The tour lasts around 40 minutes, and you\u2019ll marvel at the towering stalagmites and stalactites inside, some of which reach heights of up to 22 meters.<\/p>\n

Close to the Drach Caves, you\u2019ll find Cueva dels Hams, which also features a stunning display of stalagmites and stalactites. You can take a guided tour that lasts about an hour, which includes a visit to a nearby botanical garden as well as a documentary screening.<\/p>\n
These caves are located in Palma de Mallorca and stretch over 1 kilometer, reaching a depth of 36 meters. What makes these caves unique are the vibrant colors inside, created by the minerals in the rock formations. Cuevas Blanques are also quite famous in Mallorca, and they offer a unique experience as they can be explored without a guide. The caves are located in the north of the island, in Pollensa, and can be accessed via the “Camino de los Prisioneros” or “Prisoners’ Path,” named after the Republican prisoners who used it in the post-war era. The 35-minute hike offers breathtaking views of Cala de San Vicente and the Sierra del Cavall Bernat.
