On 7, 8 and 9 June, lovers of Ibiza\u2019s fashion flock to the Adlib Moda Ibiza runway in Marina Botafoch. Now in its 47th year, this event in celebration of Ibizan fashion kick starts with the Futur Adlib<\/strong> contest for new designers, presented by journalist Jota Abril<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Marina Botafoch<\/strong>. It will be the prelude to the Adlib Runway, a contest for up-and-coming talent from the Balearic Islands, which paves the way for the events of 8 June.<\/p>\n

After a press conference in Hotel Playasol The New Algarb<\/strong><\/a> on 8 June, the most long-standing fashion event in the world will come to life with the help of actress and journalist Cayetana Guill\u00e9n Cuervo as the presenter and patroness of the event. An Ibizan fashion event where collections by 17 designers will be worn by designers such as Toya Montoya<\/strong>, who is also the face of the Adlib Moda Ibiza 2018<\/strong> campaign and the brand ambassador for this event, as well as Miss World 2015<\/strong>, Mireia Lalaguna<\/strong>, and world-class professionals such as\u00a0Krys Pasiecznik<\/strong>,\u00a0Mireia Canalda<\/strong>,\u00a0Felipe L\u00f3pez<\/strong>\u00a0and Ibiza\u2019s very own\u00a0Ana Vide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 47th Adlib Ibiza Runway<\/strong> is a three day-long event with 29 fashion shows that epitomize the past, present and future of the trends produced on and inspired by the island of Ibiza.<\/p>\n

A touch of history<\/strong><\/p>\n

The history of Moda Adlib<\/strong> goes back to traditional Ibiza clothing<\/strong>. Which is why straw hats<\/strong>, espadrilles<\/strong> and shawls for women<\/strong>, found in the island\u2019s apparel, are part of its inspiration.<\/p>\n

The first Ibiza Fashion Week was held in 1971 when the hippy movement<\/strong> came to the Ibiza and Formentera. Newcomers to the island loved the local style and wanted to highlight the finesse of such naturally coarse, handmade materials. The island\u2019s multicultural vibe, buzzing with artists and tourists from all four corners of the globe, merged with local fashion<\/strong> and the traditional costumes<\/strong> of Ibiza (now made to be somewhat lighter), and it adapted to these new trends to give way to Moda Adlib. Its name was coined by one of its craftsmen, Jos\u00e9 Colomar, the then vice-chairman Ibiza Tourist Information, an organisation that, along with the Chamber of Commerce<\/a>, supported and consolidated a brand that arose from the Latin expression \u201cad libitum<\/strong>\u201d, which means \u201cat liberty<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
